Nurse millennial is for all millennials
Hey, I’m Katrina. I’m a millennial born and raised in Los Angeles, CA.
I’m working as a nurse and paying off student loans with a force. Like most millennials I’m juggling between paying off college debt, growing in my career, and working toward my future. There are times when I feel like I’m killin’ the game and other times when I feel stuck.
I graduated in 2012 with $180,000 in student loan debt and to this day I still owe 6 figures. At first I believed it was taboo to talk about personal finances. I thought I was the only person who had made a stupid decision to take out a crazy amount of student loans until I dove deeper into the internet for help.
The stress from finances spilled over into my career and formed a quarter-life crisis. Career-wise, I never really knew exactly what I wanted to do as a nurse. After working in different job settings I thankfully have found my calling, the core of which is helping others, learning, and teaching.
Millennials don’t realize how common it is to struggle with professional development and personal finances. I created this blog to reach out to those with similar struggles, teach others what I’ve been learning through this process, and inspire change. I may not be able to help all millennials, but I can only hope to help someone.
UPDATE:
As of April 4, 2020, I paid off all my student loan debt!
Without the debt and variable interest looming over my head I can now focus on what’s next: growing in my career and attaining financial independence for my family.
While looking back at my journey to debt freedom I feel super proud!
All the tools and strategies I used to do this are all written here on this blog. No secrets!
I hope my writing will help someone else in their journey to paying off debt.
What a feeling! 10 out of 10 would highly recommend!
